Trans Sports Day
On Saturday 17 May the London Otters joined forces with the London Royals and other London-based LGBTQ+ sports teams at the John Orwell Sports Centre in Wapping for Trans Sports Day.
There can be be many barriers for trans and non-binary people to get involved in sport and the day’s aim was one of breaking those barriers down, fostering inclusion, and bringing different clubs together to enable members of the Trans+ community to try out new sports through a variety of taster sessions.
A huge thanks to the Otters crew who volunteered their time and effort on the day (some heading down AFTER a full rowing session at the docks, AND on the weekend of our Poplar Regatta). The day was a huge success, and ever more poignant at this current time for LGBTQ+ sports teams against the backdrop of current public discourse. A massive thank you to all those who helped support the day in the lead-up and representing the Otters with Pride on the day.
