Rowcation 2025

Over the bank holiday weekend 76 Otters decamped for Rowcation, held for the first time ever in Nottingham.

On both Saturday and Sunday, we rowed on the River Trent, guided by fantastic coaches from Nottingham Rowing Club who helped us sharpen our technique and build confidence on unfamiliar waters. Across the two days, we got everyone out in a variety of boats to maximise cross-squad training and pushed boundaries by encouraging rowers to try coxing, bow steering, or rowing in smaller boats than they were used to. For those looking to mix it up, alternative sessions included indoor rowing or a high-energy F45 workout class. Saturday night featured the traditional Rowcation party – this year with a ‘London Underground- theme – giving everyone a chance to relax and let loose after our first day of rowing.

On Monday, we trained at the Nottingham Water Sports Centre – a 2 km stretch of water often used for British Rowing trials – for a final opportunity to refine our skills.
