A Spectacular Start to Head Race Season! 🚣‍♀️✨

Sunday marked the club’s first head race of the season, and what a start it was. We could not be prouder of the crews’ performances.

With 12 crews entered, the Otters took on the 2,750m course across the Royal Albert and Victoria Docks, achieving some remarkable results. The Women’s Double stormed to victory as the fastest W2x overall, while the Senior Eight placed 4th fastest out of 172 crews and 2nd fastest in the Open 8+ category. The Second Senior Eight also impressed, finishing 18th overall and 5th fastest Open 8+.

The Women’s Senior Quad claimed a well-deserved 3rd place in the W4x-, and the Senior Open Quad earned bronze with 3rd in the Op4x- category. Sam Kavanagh delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 4th fastest Open 1x and 7th fastest single overall out of 27 entries.

It was also a milestone day for the Intermediate and Novice Quads, who successfully bow-steered their first-ever head race. The Senior Women’s Quad, two Social Doubles and Intermediate Eight all produced excellent times and looked incredibly strong coming under Connaught Bridge. ❤️

Every crew performed brilliantly; we can’t deny that the Otters are a force to be reckoned with. 🦦

A huge thank you goes to everyone who raced, supported and represented the club so proudly. đź’™
