Every weekend each squad has allocated water time. Squad captains will allocate members to boats and arrange coaching and session plans. The Senior squad train both Saturday and Sunday mornings, all other squads train Saturdays. In case of bad weather, land training may be arranged, or the session may be cancelled if this is not possible.
Squad Land Training / Ergs
For members of the Senior and Novice squad, our coaches have developed a schedule of exercises based around ergs and basic gym work to improve, maintain and analyse each member's fitness. Erg scores must be recorded and members who do not keep up with their training commitments may be required to move to the social squad.
Land Training for Members and Non-Members
We hold a weekly land training session at The Foundry in Vauxhall which is open to both members and non-members. It takes inspiration from both rowing and CrossFit, including Olympic lifting, barbells, kettle bells and everyone's favourite, ergs. No experience or level of fitness is assumed - every exercise can be tailored to the individual. To signup and for more details, see our meetup group.
If you'd like to join us as a member but have never had any on-water rowing experience, you'll need to take part in one of our Learn to Row courses. Register your interest to be notified when registration for the next course opens.
