The information on this page is primarily intended for club members, but it's also very useful for anyone who wants to know a bit more about how a rowing club deals with safety.
As a British Rowing affiliated club, London Otters Rowing Club use British Rowing standards as a basis for the safety regime. A key document in all of this is RowSafe, which acts as a comprehensive guide to keeping safe while rowing. Each section sets out expectations for club members, coaches, and clubs themselves, making it easy to see what you need to be familiar with.
All London Otters Rowing Club members are required to complete both the Safety Basics and the Cold Water & Hypothermia courses. If you'd like to know more, or perhaps improve your confidence in assessing the risks associated with rowing, the Intermediate and Advanced Risk Assessment modules are a great way of doing this. British Rowing also offer a number of online courses for various aspects of rowing, not just safety!
The RowPerfect UK website has a lot of trustworthy guidance on specific safety issues and rowing more generally.
