Membership

As an LGBTQI+ friendly rowing club we are always open to welcoming new members amongst our ranks. Listed below you will find the different ways in which you can enter our fabulous rowing club.

To be considered for any of the squads or courses listed, you will need to register your interest.

Please note that we are still a young and growing club and therefore have limited equipment and coaching capacity. This means there's a limit to the number of members we can accept on a yearly basis. You might therefore not be able to join one of our squads or courses right away.

To find out more about our membership types, please choose the option that best describes you. Please note that all prices listed are for the 2017-2018 season and may change in future seasons. We offer the option of paying via bank transfer or PayPal - payments via PayPal may include extra admin fees.

You will either be placed in our most experienced (Social A) or less experienced (Social B) depending on your level. Our Social Squad members also partake in a number of fun regattas.

Novice Squad members are expected to complete a minimum of one water session and one remote erg session a week. The aim of the Novice Squad is to compete at a number of British Rowing events, and to provide a pathway for less experienced or skilled rowers to reach the Senior Squad.

I am an experienced rower and can commit to regular training, both on and off the water

Senior Squad

The Senior development squad is for members of the club who wish to take competing in rowing seriously. All members with an appropriate level of physical fitness and technical skill are welcome to join the senior squad. (Exceptions can also be made for members with one of the above attributes who have the capacity to gain the other).

The success of the senior development squad will be measured based on race results, primarily the squad's ranking at the Head of the River race (March) and Summer regattas.

Members of the Senior Squad need to be aware that their position in the squad is dependent on attendence, commitment and attitude. They are expected to complete all training on and off the water (minimum 2 water sessions and 2 remote erg sessions per week) and repeated failure to meet the expected standards will result in members being asked to move to a more appropriate squad.

Membership Fees:
Full Payment £410
Payment in instalments £153 x 3 instalments
1st instalment due on joining
2nd instalment due by 31st Jan 2018
3rd instalment due by 31st May 2018

I'd like to cox

Coxing

In a crew, the cox is responsible not only for steering the boat, but also leading and encouraging the rowers. They are the unsung heroes of our club. Without them, we can't go out on the water and have great training sessions, so if you're interested in coxing with us (no previous experience required) then we'd love to hear from you!

We'd start with a 2-3 hour coxing course, in which you'll be taught all the basics of coxing and rowing, enough for you to feel comfortable.

In terms of your time commitment, we don't expect you to pledge hard commitments on a weekly basis, but we do expect you to have fairly regular availability on weekends to cox down at the Royal Docks Adventure near London City Airport.

Coxes do not pay membership fees, a £10 admin fee is levied instead.

Not sure which is the best option for you? Fill in our register interest form and someone will be in touch to discuss your options.
